Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that Anthony Joshua is set to fight Tyson Fury this year

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has disclosed that Anthony Joshua is scheduled to fight Tyson Fury later this year, but he cautioned that the Gypsy King must first defeat Oleksandr Usyk.

Hearn made this revelation while responding to a question about darts prodigy Luke Littler during a recent interview with Piers Morgan.

A much-anticipated Battle of Britain bout between the two heavyweight superstars has been a topic of discussion for some time now, and it appears to be on the verge of becoming a reality.

Joshua is reportedly poised to unveil his next opponent after his recent knockout victory over former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou last month.

Eddie Hearn expressed his confidence in the Fury vs. AJ fight happening this year, stating, “Because the darts Championship happens in December and January, I’m gonna say that Fury vs. AJ happens this year.” He reiterated, “So I’m gonna say Fury vs. AJ [happens first].”

Previously, both Joshua and Fury had agreed to a fight, but negotiations collapsed, leading Fury to face Deontay Wilder in a trilogy bout instead.

Meanwhile, Oleksandr Usyk surprised the division by defeating Joshua twice, securing the Brit’s former championship belts.

“Eddie Hearn stated, ‘Everybody wants to see this fight, and on August 12, Anthony Joshua will fight Dillian Whyte. After that, he will fight Deontay Wilder in Saudi Arabia, and then after that, it has to be Tyson Fury.’”

Hearn continued, “‘Tyson Fury turned down the Usyk fight, the most important fight in boxing, the undisputed heavyweight world championship, to fight an MMA fighter who has never had a fight before in his life.’”

He added, “‘We have to be honest, Fury cares about one thing only, the money.’”

The 44-year-old later clarified that for Fury to solidify his status as a true boxing great, he must defeat both Usyk and Joshua. He emphasized, “He has to beat Usyk and he has to beat Anthony Joshua, particularly Usyk.”

Osayi-Samuel’s Turmoil: Super Eagles Star Under Scrutiny by Turkish Disciplinary Committee Following Altercation with Pitch Invaders

Super Eagles and Fenerbahçe defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel, will face a panel regarding the pitch invasion incident that occurred in March.

The Turkish Football Federation has called upon the defender, along with some of his teammates, in response to the altercation with Trabzonspor fans who stormed the pitch to confront them after their team’s 3-2 defeat.

The Turkish Football Federation revealed on Monday that the defender is among the three players summoned to a disciplinary hearing following the pitch invasion incident during a league game between Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce on March 17.

The attack occurred after the Fenerbahce players and coaching staff celebrated their victory, resulting in Trabzonspor fan punching the visitor’s goalkeeper, Dominik Livakovic, in the face.

According to the disciplinary committee of the Turkish FA, players involved in the altercation could face bans ranging from three to five matches.

The statement regarding Osayi-Samuel’s involvement in the fight reads, “Due to his involvement in the Super League match, he has been referred in accordance with Article 45 of the Football Disciplinary Instruction. Players found guilty will be punished and banned for three to five matches.”

Osayi-Samuel, 26, was captured in a viral video throwing a punch at one of the fans who ran onto the pitch. Additionally, Dutch defender Jayden Oosterwolde was accused of kicking the same fan when Trabzonspor supporters invaded the pitch and attacked Fenerbahce players.

Michi Batshuayi will also face the disciplinary body for kicking another invading fan with a spinning kick, while opposition fans swarmed the visitors after the game. Two club employees were involved in a fight as well, as stated by the TFF.

A Trabzonspor assistant coach will also appear before the disciplinary board.

In the aftermath of the incident, 13 Trabzonspor supporters were arrested, with five placed in pre-trial detention.

  • We’re ready for Abuja to London route; Houston and New York in works — Allen Onyema

We’re ready for Abuja to London route; Houston and New York in works — Allen Onyema

The CEO of Air Peace Airlines, Dr. Allen Onyema said the airline is ready to take the Abuja to London flight and is planning to begin flights to the USA — New York and Houston by the end of the year.

The Air Peace boss disclosed this in an interview with Arise Television earlier on Monday.

Onyema also stressed that the airline is in the process of purchasing more aircraft for this purpose.

“We are doing seven daily flights into Gatwick. Nigeria has a balance of about fourteen to do. We are ready, if the government gives us Abuja-London, I will do it, because we are expecting more aircraft into the country purchased by Air Peace. If we get it, we will do it”, said Dr. Allen.

“Like, we are planning to hit New York or Houston towards the end of the year, because we are bringing in more 777s. As I speak to you, my staff, they’re in California, the engineering technical services department”,

“…they’re in California inspecting some three 777s we want to acquire, we want to buy. So, if we could get them in the next two or three months, then of course, we are good to go anywhere”, Onyema continued.

However, the company is faced with struggles and sabotage in trying to achieve the long-awaited Lagos to London flights.

He said, “You suffer what I call both internal and external conspiracies. It took us seven years. We got the designation about six and a half years ago to go into London. Since then, it has been a Cat-and-Mouse game.”

“We actually procured our three 777s because of this route, not for any other route,… However, we were not allowed to go.”

“Whether you like it or not, there is what is called international aero politics which is very dirty. We applied for the TCO. TCO means Technical Country Operators permit, you must get that one before you start going into any European country, UK inclusive.

“And the TCO organization from Europe wrote to our Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority- Do you know Air Peace? Do you know about their designation? And we were denied. My own country denied us, so they threw it back.

“We went back to the NCAA, they said, oh, we didn’t tell them. Who designated us, the Federal Ministry of Aviation, whose duty it was and still is to do that. We said okay, we’re ready.

“They refused, they said until they allow us to apply. So, we got a designation from the Federal government, and the NCAA, under the same Federal Government, was telling us that we should not make any application towards going into the UK.”

Onyema also added that the Nigerian airlines need all the support they can get from the Federal Government.

“In our own country, what we are pleading for – I like when you support – the ease of doing business, let them even do that for the indigenous airlines and see us blossom, instead of badmouthing these airlines that pass through all manner of problems.”
