The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has disclosed that it bought fuel from Dangote Refinery at N898 per litre, Daily Trust reports.
The oil firm had moved about 300 trucks to the 650,000 capacity refinery in Lagos, on Saturday, and loading commenced on Sunday.
Speaking with Daily Trust over the price of premium motor spirit (PMS), otherwise known as petrol, Chief Spokesperson of the NNPCL, Olufemi Soneye, said, “We successfully loaded PMS at the Dangote Refinery today.
The claim that we purchased it at N760 per liter is incorrect. For this initial loading, the price from the refinery was N898 per liter.”
He told our correspondent that as of the time of filing the report, over 70 trucks had been loaded. Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, had announced that NNPCL would be the sole off-taker of refined petrol from Dangote Refinery.

Sweden To Offer Immigrants $34,000 To Leave Country
Sweden’s government on Thursday announced plans to significantly raise the grants for immigrants who voluntarily choose to return to their home countries.
Starting in 2026, immigrants can receive up to 350,000 Swedish kronor (approximately $34,000) as part of this initiative, according to Sweden’s right-wing government, which is supported by the anti-immigration Sweden Democrats.
Migration Minister Johan Forssell stated that this move is part of a ‘paradigm shift’ in the country’s migration policy. Currently, immigrants receive up to 10,000 kronor per adult and 5,000 kronor per child, with a maximum of 40,000 kronor per family.
The new measure aims to increase the uptake of this offer, which has been available since 1984 but is relatively unknown and underutilized. The announcement comes despite opposition from a recent government-appointed probe, which argued against a significant increase due to concerns over cost-effectiveness. -

Nigerian NSA, Ribadu blames petroleum smuggling for Naira instability, economic woes
The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has raised the alarm over the increasing smuggling of petroleum products out of Nigeria, warning that the instability in the foreign exchange market would persist unless addressed.
Speaking in Abuja on Monday at a stakeholder engagement for Operation Whirlwind, organised by the Nigeria Customs Service, Ribadu highlighted the severity of the issue.
Ribadu commented, “We have been suffering due to smuggling, and if we want to address our economic problems, smuggling has to stop. It is difficult because it is like cancer and eats up everything.
It destr%ys us and even our security forces because of the very few individuals making profit from it and half of them are not even Nigerians.
I don’t think there is any country that suffers from smuggling like Nigeria and we have to address it now because with the trouble we are going through, we can’t stabilise Naira and if we can’t stabilise Naira, then we are in trouble.” -
